tramesFACTICES by Amandine Fabry

TramesFACTICES, a textile research project led by Amandine FABRY, questions the very notion of fabric by exploring its architecture, plasticity, and representations.

Bio

The project examines the relationship between thread, line, and structure. Stripes subvert weaving’s linearity and, through its intrinsic connection to textile know-how, subtly honor textile culture. Through a collection of reversible throws and wall textiles, TramesFACTICES turns fabric into a field of illusion, engaging with its own perception within a textile language where graphism, materiality, and cultural heritage converge.

Objects

Oblique

Oblique - BIFACE collection

The graphic work disrupts traditional perceptions of textiles: the stripe, far from being simple or anodyne, deconstructs the linearity of weaving while subtly revealing the richness of textile culture.

Wrinkles

Wrinkles - BIFACE collection

Wrinkles is a one-piece woven wool plaid featuring an intriguing double-sided effect: each side of the fabric has a different pleat pattern and a different color range. The project lies at the intersection of real and false wefts, exploring an original construction at the heart of the weave. It is a mise en abyme of the structure of weaving itself, where traditional know-how is sublimated by the contribution of technology, while remaining faithful to its ancestral gestures.
